With 2017 being the seventh straight year the company has achieved record sales, the BMW Group has cemented its position as the leading premium vehicle company in the world. The BMW brand alone grew by 4.2 percent worldwide, delivering almost 2.1 million vehicles. Led by huge increases in the 1-Series (14 percent), X-series (9.6 percent), 5-Series (6.3 percent) and the redesigned flagship 7-Series (4.5 percent), sales in 2017 bode well for the future of BMW. “We are delighted with these new record sales figures, which means the BMW Group, with its three premium automotive brands BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce, remains the world’s leading premium automotive company,” according to board member Ian Robertson. “We have continued to increase sales despite headwinds in some major markets and model changeovers of our most significant vehicles.” See why more people are flocking to the BMW brand by inspecting the inventory and taking a test drive at Chapman BMW on Camelback.

BMW Plays Leading Role in Electrified Vehicles

The BMW Group delivered more than 100,000 electrified vehicles in 2017, an increase of 66 percent from the previous year. The result is a focus on becoming the leading manufacturer of alternative energy vehicles in the world. The popular i3 experienced a 23 percent increase in 2017 and the BMW iPerformance plug-in hybrid almost doubled its output in sales from the previous year. The company expects continued growth in this field as it shoots to have no less than 500,000 BMW electrified vehicles on the road by the end of 2019. The BMW i3 underwent a redesign for the 2018 model year, adding a new sport model to its family. The BMW i3s has specifically designed front and rear end contours, a sport suspension and high performance motor. You can buy the i3 or i3s in an all-electric version, or choose to have a range extending small gasoline engine as backup.

New i8 Roadster Coming This Spring

The workers at the BMW Spartanburg plant in South Carolina are busy preparing for the release of the new production X7 model late at the end of the year. Pre-production models are being assembled at the plant right now so the vehicle can undergo a series of comprehensive tests before the final version is released for public consumption. “We are proud to produce the BMW X7 here in Spartanburg, home of our X models,” said Knudt Flor, head of the Spartanburg plant. “This is a very special vehicle and our employees are looking forward to yet a further member of the X family. Together with the BMW X7, a total of five BMW X models will be exported from Spartanburg to all corners of the globe.” Stay in touch with Chapman BMW on Camelback for more information on when the first X7 will arrive on the showroom floor.

Keeping X7 Under Wraps

As common in the auto industry with the release of a new vehicle, BMW is keeping the facts about the new X7 very hush hush. The pre-production models will be cloaked in a camouflage wrap with specifically-designed stripes to help conceal the look of the latest in the Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV) lineup. The BMW X7 is produced on the same production line as the X5 and X6, with a team especially trained for the production protocol of a brand new vehicle. The Spartanburg plant is the largest BMW manufacturing facility in the world, having produced 411,000 units in 2016 and employing about 9,000 people. An additional thousand jobs are expected to be added to the plant by 2021.

A Palatial SAV for Those Who Crave Luxury

The BMW X7 will be the largest vehicle in the X lineup, with an innovative design and presence that inspires both the owners and those who hope to someday be in the driver’s seat. With an immense amount of interior room and luxury appointments fitting of a premium SAV, the X7 is ready to make a grand entrance later this year and dominate the full-size premium SAV market. Even though the X7 is on the larger side of the SAV scale, it has the handling and athleticism you’d expect from a company that produces Ultimate Driving Machines. The narrow rear end and flowing lines create an illusion of forward movement even when you’re stopped for gas. The iconic BMW kidney grille reminds everyone that this is a premium vehicle for sophisticated drivers. Step inside the cabin and you’ll be amazed by the visibility provided by the panoramic windows even as the leather seats swaddle you like a child in its mother’s arms. Prepare yourself for the next great thing in the SAV market when the new BMW X7 comes to Chapman BMW on Camelback later this year.
